Biden to address the nation on Afghan crisis

by News Desk August 16, 2021

As hundreds of Afghans rushed to the airfield amid the panic spread by the evacuations, the air operations were closed by the Pentagon after Afghans broke through the barriers and rushed onto the runway, trying to stop the military aircrafts while also trying to get onto them.

Three people reportedly died by falling off of a military aircraft and the situation has evolved into a crisis. From all eyes on the Taliban to all eyes on the evacuations which should have been peaceful and orderly.

President Biden was criticized for being at Camp David while Afghanistan was burning and at a time when thousands of US citizens are still present inside the country that has been overrun by the Taliban and the security situation is deteriorating by the minute, trashing all expectations and predicted worst-case scenarios.

In a tweet, President Biden has announced he would address the nation on Afghanistan today. It is still unclear what he will say but it is unlikely he would defend his decision to withdraw troops like he did until a few days ago.

Afghanistan was left leaderless after their President fled the country the minute the Taliban reached the outskirts of Kabul. The Afghan forces, trained and given billions in funds dropped arms and had no will to fight the Taliban, instead fled to other countries or joined the Taliban if not executed.

All the blame is now being shifted to the United States and other forces who have left the country. Emotional Afghans who feel like they have been abandoned expected the foreign forces to somehow fly all of them out of their country and house them on somewhere on foreign land.
