by News Desk October 20, 2022

A Texas man, accused of beating his pregnant girlfriend and killing their unborn child in the process has avoided jail time after taking a plea deal with the Travis County District Attorney’s Office.

Johnny Charles Ebbs V, 24 at the time of the alleged crime, took a plea deal that includes an 8-year deferred adjudication on a third-degree continuous violent family assault charge.

If Ebbs does not violate his probation, he will have his offense dismissed as he was not found guilty at the time of sentencing.

According to authorities, in 2019, Ebbs beat his pregnant girlfriend, LaShonda Lemons, which ended up with her hospitalization and death of their unborn child three days later.

Ebbs is yet to forfeit his guns as per the terms of his bond and protective agreement. He will wear a GPS monitor and without any violations would be out in 6 months without serving any jail time at all.
