Blinken lands in Rwanda, stresses on Rusesabagina’s release
Secretary of State Antony Blinken lands in Rwanda; meets Rwandan President Paul Kagame, and stresses on Paul Rusesabagina’s release.
According to the Secretary’s tweet, the US stressed on – Oscar-nominated movie “Hotel Rwanda’s” subject – Paul Rusesabagina’s release.
Rusesabagina was sentenced to 25 years in prison for terrorism last year in what was called a mock trial.
Blinken landed in Kigali on Wednesday from the Democratic Republic of Congo where he was asked to put sanctions on Rwanda for supporting M23 rebels.
Rwanda, to this day, has denied supporting the M23 rebels.
