Armed man who attempted to breach FBI Ohio office killed
An armed man who attempted to breach FBI’s Ohio office has been shot and killed by authorities.
The suspect tried to breach a secure area – Visitor Screening Facility – in FBI’s office in Cincinnati, Ohio around 9AM was shot dead after a 6-hour long standoff with authorities after he attempted to flee the scene.
Reports identified the suspect as Ricky Walter Shiffer who was wearing body armor and was ultimately shot after raising a gun at officers. The response to the standoff that took place in a rural field in Wilmington, Ohio involved multiple law enforcement agencies.
Troopers of the Ohio State Highway Patrol located the suspect’s Ford Crown Victoria around the rest area of northbound I-71 in Warren County at 9:37AM. The suspect then began to flee and was involved in a chase that lasted approx. 16 minutes and covered 60 miles. He had shot at authorities while driving, according to the State Highway Patrol.
His vehicle finally came to a stop on Smith Road near Van Trees Road Clinton County, and began shooting at officers. The standoff lasted for about 6 hours and concluded with the suspect’s death.
