Live-streaming Louisville shooter taken out
The shooter behind the deadly attack at a downtown Louisville bank has been taken out by authorities.
The rifle-wielding armed suspect was identified as 23-year-old Connor Sturgeon. He was able to take four lives and injure 9 others before he was taken out by Police who actively responded to the scene.
It was later learned that the deceased suspect was live-streaming the entire attack online. It is unclear what platform was used to livestream the attack.
Two officers are also among the injured. Officials are dubbing the attack as ‘workplace violence’ with the shooter being a current employee struggling with mental health issues.
The attack took place at the Old National Bank in downtown Louisville, Kentucky.
Sturgeon was killed around 8:30AM in a shootout with Police near Sluggerfield, Louisville – where the two officers were also injured.
One of the injured officers was new recruit Nickolas Wilt who remains in critical condition after being shot in the head. Officer Wilt, in a selfless act of bravery ran towards gunfire to save lives.
All 9 of the injured victims were quickly shifted to the University of Louisville Hospital. Three are in critical condition while three have been released after treatment.
The Louisville Metro Police Department identified the four deceased victims as Thomas Elliot, 63; James Tutt, 64; Juliana Farmer, 45; Joshua Barrick, 40.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear has announced that flags will fly at half mast throughout the state until Friday.
Witnesses, those with any type of evidence are urged to fill out this form on a special FBI website to help authorities in their investigation.
