A woman in West Virginia woke up from a 2-year coma and identified her alleged attacker who ended up being her brother.

The Jackson County, WV, Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Daniel Palmer III, 55, brother of victim, Wanda Palmer who had been in a coma since the past two years.

Daniel Palmer has been charged with malicious wounding and attempted murder of his sister in the 2020 attack. According to Sheriff Ross Mellinger, Wanda was left unconscious with “massive” amounts of head trauma.”

Wanda was found by her neighbors on June 10, 2020 – unconscious and leaning down from a couch in her home on Flatwoods Road, Ravenswood, West Virginia.

On June 27, Wanda began speaking slowly and during a July 12 Police visit to her nursing home, Wanda confirmed the assault when officers asked.

Daniel Palmer had been a person of interest since Wanda was found but authorities could not file charges until the victim confirmed it was her brother who attempted to kill her.
