A Texas man has been charged with murder after he allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend’s teen daughter, according to authorities.

The 16-year-old victim, Lauren Juma, was shot multiple times. 60-year-old Van Brisbon was taken into custody and has been charged with her murder. He is being kept at the Harris County Jail.

Brisbon’s motive remains unclear at the moment as he has not been cooperating with investigators. Officers arrived on -scene around 1AM on Friday after getting a 911 call from Juma’s 19-year-old sister, Keryca Harmon, who informed them about the alleged captivity on gunpoint.

Upon arrival, officers heard gunshots as they approached the front door.

After firing multiple times, Brisbon came out of the house to be arrested by Police. Officers soon discovered the victim’s dead body inside.

The victim’s mother was out of town at the time of this shooting. The elder sister approached the scene of the crime minutes before the fatal shooting. According to her, Juma called her to pick her up as Brisbon was being “really weird.”

According to her, deputies were already searching around the house by the time she got there.
