State of emergency declared as wildfires engulf Colorado homes

by News Desk December 31, 2021

Countless homes have been destroyed and tens of thousands of residents have been evacuated as fast-moving wildfires engulf Colorado.

Governor Jared Polis declared a state of emergency as officials fear for deaths and injuries. Wildfires are quickly spreading through Boulder County, and over 25,000 people were ordered to evacuate in Louisville and Superior.

The Governor is praying that the “winds die down” and the weather changes. He also told those affected by this disaster that they “don’t stand alone.”

The wildfires come after a historic drought in the region. Winds of over 100MPH are fanning the flames, and what makes these wildfires so dangerous is that they are occurring near the suburban areas of Colorado.

Over 500 homes have been lost in Boulder County areas. 7 people have reportedly been injured by the fires.

Residents have been urged not to go or return back to Boulder County. Many roads leading to and from the area have been closed.

National Weather Service Boulder/Denver urged people to leave Louisville.
