Idaho suspect ate victim after killing him
An Idaho suspect accused of killing an elderly man has been charged with cannibalism after investigators found a microwave covered in blood.
James David Russell, 39, killed David Milton Flaget, 70, on September 10. He was facing a first-degree murder charge when investigators found evidence of alleged cannibalism.
An autopsy has confirmed that tissue recovered from Russell’s house belonged to Flaget.
The victim, David Flaget, was missing body parts when he was found in the passenger seat of his truck. Bonner County authorities had arrested Russell from his garage after he fled from the scene and locked himself inside.
A glass bowl and a microwave covered in blood were later recovered from Russell’s property. He had “several” disputes with the 70-year-old victim in the past.
Authorities are still trying to find Flaget’s missing body parts.
