by News Desk December 19, 2021

Australia has lost a sixth child in Thursday’s bouncy castle tragedy.

11-year-old Chace Harrison passed away at the Hospital. He was one of the 9 children who were playing on a bouncy castle when wind struck and lifted it 32ft high in the air. The casualties of the incident that shocked all of Australia have now reached six.

It is with a heavy heart that I can confirm an 11-year-old boy passed away in hospital this afternoon, His name is Chace Harrison. Our thoughts continue to be with his family, and the families and loved ones of all the children involved, during what is an incomprehensibly difficult time.

Commissioner Darren Hine said.

Two children are still in critical condition at the Hospital, while one child is being looked after at home. Police are investigating why the bouncy castle went up in the air.

This is the first time a tragedy related to inflatable bouncy castles has struck Australia. The kids were celebrating their last day of school on the “Big Day In.” Other activities included Zorb balls and a Water Zone.

About 40 children were participating in the activities when the wind gust struck. Police released the names and pictures of the victims with the permission of their parents/families.

Authorities are now actively interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence, etc., as to why the bouncy castle flew.

The incident has sent Australia into a state of shock at a time when families were preparing to celebrate Christmas.

The loss of six young lives will be felt by our community for a long time – so please take care of yourselves and those around you.

Commissioner Hine concluded.
