Biden promises Federal assistance to tornado-hit states

by News Desk December 11, 2021

President Biden has promised Federal aid to tornado-hit states after he was briefed on the overnight destruction caused by the raging tornadoes.

His promise comes hours after Kentucky Gov. Beshear declared a state of emergency, and asked Biden for help while announcing that his Administration is expecting significant loss of life.

The White House has been “closely monitoring” the storms that have suddenly hit the country. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said the Federal government will provide “full support as needed.”

Rescue operations are taking place throughout Western Kentucky. Over 200,000 people are without power in both Kentucky and Tennessee, and at least two workers died in the Amazon warehouse in Illinois after it collapsed.

As Kentucky is the worst hit state. Officials fear the death toll might reach 100.

Rescuers are finding it difficult to clear out the debris because of the amount of damage caused by the hurricanes. They don’t know where to start and how to get people out of the mountains of rubble.

The Kentucky National Guard is busy helping those in the affected areas. Officials are urging residents to stay off of roads as broken high tension cables and falling trees are always a major risk to life.
