Over 50 dead as truck carrying migrants flips in Mexico
Over 50 people have been killed in Mexico after a truck carrying over 150 migrants crashed in Chiapas.
The truck was overfilled with desperate migrants, and over 100 were left injured. At least 49 people were confirmed dead right after the incident, five more succumbed at a nearby Hospital.
The truck was said to be overspeeding when it flipped on a quick sharp turn and struck a pedestrian bridge.
The nationalities of the victims have not been disclosed yet, but authorities believe most were from Guatemala and Honduras.
Chiapas has long been a transit point for illegal immigrants trekking towards the United States.
Most illegals end up paying Cartels in return for favorable, and easier routes, or to allow them to travel under the supervision of a coyote. Many are stuffed in overcrowded vehicles and end up losing their lives in horrific accidents.
Hundreds of thousands continue to head for the US, which is seeing its biggest surge yet thanks to President Biden’s promises.
Mexico has made it a bit harder for illegal immigrants to travel through the country, but the migrants still do it, and in the end it is the US taxpayer who has to look after their wellbeing at the camps, centers around the Southern border, and if any criminals sneak through with them.
