Mom says child offered pizza to get vaccinated, told not to tell her anything
A California mother says her 13-year-old son was given a pizza in exchange for getting vaccinated, and was told not to tell her.
Maribel Duarte’s son studies at the Barack Obama Global Prep Academy in Southern Los Angeles. He came home with a vaccination card and told her that he accepted to get vaccinated after he was offered pizza.
The 13-year-old was allegedly vaccinated without his mother’s permission and if true could land the school in trouble. Anticipating online speculation and hate, Duarte clarified that she is not anti-vaccine as she herself is vaccinated.
In a TV interview, Duarte said that the woman who signed the paper told her son not to tell his mother.
The school is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District, and when asked for a comment by the station, it said that the district enforces an “incentives” program which rewards vaccinated students.
They enforced the “incentives” program because of the looming Jan. 10, 2022 vaccination deadline for students. It offers rewards to vaccinated students, those with a professionally approved exemptions, and/or conditional admissions.
After January 10, 2022 all unvaccinated students will be barred from physically entering LAUSD schools, and would be required to join classes virtually.
Some people online are telling the mother to file a criminal complaint for “child endangerment,” as the school did not know his medical history. Whether she takes any action is yet to be seen.
