US announces diplomatic boycott of 2022 Beijing; China hurls threats
As the US announced a diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. China hurled threats and promised to respond.
The US, citing gross human rights violations by China in Xinjiang has said that it won’t send any official delegation to the Games. American athletes however, will still be performing.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki confirmed the anticipated boycott on Monday. She said that US officials will take it as “business as usual in the face of China’s egregious human rights abuses and atrocities in Xinjiang.”
She further added that not sending any official delegation would send a clear message to Beijing. Also clarifying that the US did not feel it was the right thing to “penalize” athletes who had been training for this very moment.
As other countries are also planning a diplomatic boycott of the Games, China has reacted in the same Chinese way.
CCP-controlled Beijing heavily criticized the move, and called it a “political farce.” A statement was quickly released by the Chinese mission to the UN which alleged that the US “just wants to politicize sports,” and “provoke confrontation.”
It went on and said that the success of the Games “does not rely on” the participation of a “handful of countries government officials.”
Beijing had already announced to take “resolute countermeasures” while anticipating the announcement of the boycott.
At a media briefing on Tuesday, their infamous Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian, known for his undiplomatic language, said that the proposed boycott was based on “lies and rumors.”
Lijian also said that China would take “resolute countermeasures” as Beijing threatened to retaliate.
China just expects the World to close its eyes, and let it do whatever it wants
China has long been urged to stop the government-controlled ‘ethnic cleansings’ of the Uyghurs in Xinjiang. Where the Uyghur youth and majority of its adult population that isn’t trapped in forced, and/or bonded labor – To make cheap products – Is forcibly sent to so-called “Vocational Education and Training Centers,” which allegedly are internment camps.
The part of the Uyghur population that isn’t in the camps is busy working in the factories it is confined in. The factories make cheap outsourced products, or parts of a product.
The Uyghur workers are paid lower than the minimum wage, and they cannot use it to repay their growing debts. Hence, the bonded labor saga continues for generations.
China has long denied the accusations, and in its propaganda stints on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, has its state-controlled media agents go and pretend they are interviewing “harmonious and happy” Uyghur’s whose lives have been changed by the use of “technology.”
Apart from the gross human rights violations in Xinjiang, China has also been urged to stop its authoritarian and politically motivated detention, and persecution of Hong Kong politicians and civilians. It has (obviously) denied doing that as well even though the World can clearly see all that is happening in Hong Kong.
While doing all this, China is also busy playing a dangerous role against Taiwan. Chinese planes have buffed up their incursions of Taiwan’s air defense zone since last year.
It looks like China wants an accidental military encounter with Taiwan to use as an excuse for military action. The provocations are high in the zone and China then blames the US, and the World while its the one provoking everyone with its actions and use of words.
As China does all this, it just expects the World – To buy its products, keep healthy relations, let it steal tech, allow it to exploit its neighbors, let it coerce small nations that it has lent or “invested” money in, let it spy on other countries through loopholes left in phones made by Chinese companies, etc.
According to China, nothing is wrong in Xinjiang, and yet it requires its own state-controlled media agents go to random places and conduct surveilled interviews of paid actors.
“Nothing is wrong in Xinjiang,” yet the CCP-controlled Chinese government actors tell that to you. No independent journalist can go there because of the military checkpoints leading to the areas.
“Nothing was wrong in Wuhan,” yet they have you listen to some random actor pretending to be a scientist, or journalist, telling you how it wasn’t even in Wuhan but in the US!
“Nothing is wrong at all,” yet they are desperate to find “western looking” actors and scientists to say whatever the CCP wants, so that it looks authentic.
When the US, and the World questions all this, then we Americans are called “dogs, mutts, etc.,” by the Chinese state-controlled media and state-controlled fake accounts.
This isn’t ending anytime soon, as China’s lies have been caught. It knows that it is wrong, and to hide the fact stoops to new lows and incites nationalism in a bid to turn it into an issue of ego, and not human rights.
Tensions are set to rise further in the coming days as China just isn’t backing off from its human rights violations in Xinjiang, its suppression and forceful takeover of Hong Kong and Taiwan.
