Omicron lands in Canada; might secretly be spreading in US

The “highly transmissible” Omicron variant of COVID-19 which is slowly bringing back lockdowns has landed in Canada.

Two people who traveled from Nigeria have tested positive for the variant.

Nigeria is nowhere near South Africa, and with two positive arriving in Canada from the region certifies that Omicron has possibly spread throughout Africa, and the majority of the World.

The World currently, has only restricted travel from Southern African countries.

As people arriving from Nigeria are also carriers of Omicron, the World might enforce a travel ban on all of Africa, or following Israel, completely shut down its borders for all visitors.

The first cases of the new variant were first discovered in South Africa, and since then the World has reacted by shutting its borders for flights from Southern Africa.

Israel closed its borders for everyone, and the UK enforced mask mandates after blocking travel from Southern Africa.

Netherlands extended a partial lockdown after 61 cases of COVID, 13 of Omicron were discovered on two of its flights from South Africa.

The US and Canada followed the rest of the World and imposed travel bans on South Africa and its neighbor, but the latest news has once again raised alarm bells as the Omicron variant which was anticipated to be among us in the shadows has now officially been reported in Canada.

The US still hasn’t reported any cases of the “highly transmissible” variant, but health experts fear that it might already be spreading. Tests are being conducted to determine whether the variant is already here.

The positives who landed in Canada are in quarantine.

Omicron, and our future

More research is being conducted on Omicron, to determine whether the vaccines are ineffective against it.

In a worst-case scenario where vaccines are deemed ineffective, and/or the variant quickly spreads, we might be met with strict lockdowns, and mask mandates.

Health experts will recommend the enforcement of lockdowns to contain the spread. President Biden, like all other World leaders will need to decide whether to lock everything, and everyone down, or let the economy, and people’s livelihoods run.

The global economy is yet again suffering. Stock markets throughout the World are going down, and the aviation, oil industries are once again being wrecked.

Investors are losing confidence in the industries, and selling their stocks. Ultimately leading to crashes.

World leaders will need to develop newer strategies to contain the spread, as the World may not be able to risk another year or two of lockdowns and uncertainty.

Food prices are going up throughout the US. There’s a supply chain crisis, and another range of lockdowns would only worsen the long and short-term effects.
