Ilhan Omar blames police as Minneapolis turns into Somalia

Representative Ilhan Omar has blamed the Minneapolis Police Department for the skyrocketing crime in the city.

Omar blamed the Police while speaking at a town hall on October 23. “What we must also recognize, is that the reduction in policing currently in our city, and the lawlessness that is happening… Uhm… Is due to two things,” she said.

“One – The police have chosen to not fulfill their oath of office… And to provide the public safety they are owed to the citizens they serve,” she proclaimed.

Her rant comes after violent crime in Minneapolis saw a 17% surge the past year. Omar has been a vocal critic of the Minneapolis Police Department, and maybe unintentionally a supporter of crime.

Since the death of George Floyd, Omar has called for the “cancerous” Police to be defunded. She supported a bizarre “Department of Public Safety” instead of the Police.

After the idea got shot down by voters concerned with the rise in crime. Omar too has subtly avoided mentioning the idea, but has still blamed the Police instead of herself.

The Police saw a huge drop in morale after the city, politicians and far-Left went on a tirade against it. Instead of encouraging law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line, many in the far-Left wanted them booted.

Now that the Police did what the people asked, and crime spiked. Those who wanted that in the first place are now crying foul.

“The Minneapolis Police is the most dysfunctional Police department in our state and probably in our country,” Omar exasperated.

Now let’s roll the tape back to last year.

“I will never co-sign on funding a Police department that continues to brutalize us,” Omar to a BLM crowd in June 2020.

“And I will never stop saying not only do we need to disinvest [inaudible] police, but we need to completely dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department,” she announced to a cheering crowd of BLM supporters during the same speech.

“The Minneapolis Police Department is rotten to the roots, and so when we dismantle it, we get rid of that cancer and we allow for something beautiful to rise, and that reimagining allows us to figure out what Public Safety looks like for us,” she continued.

Now then, that is exactly what happened. After being defunded and highlighted as villains, the “cancerous” Police Department did exactly what Omar and the likes of her wanted.

They stopped working because they would have been met with mobs calling for their defunding, portraying them as the ultimate evil, and calling them a “cancer.”

Because of Ilhan Omar, crime in Minneapolis has spiked. The city is now just inches away from being No. 1 in the crime index. It is currently safer than only 3% of US cities.

Mini-Somalia

Minneapolis has turned into Mini-Somalia, and maybe that’s what Omar ultimately wanted.

“Mental health experts” responding to crimes instead of the Police, asking the criminals if they would like some cookies with their stolen milk.

Health experts landing on-scene, judging whether the criminals are violent or not. People walking into supermarkets, taking anything they like and leaving as if nothing happened.

Afterwards being called to the “Department of Public Safety” for their routine checkup and explaining why they committed the crime.

The utopia… The utopia for criminals.
