Alabama police officer’s wife convicted in his death
An Alabama woman was convicted of manslaughter on Friday in the 2019 shooting of her police officer husband. She had also been charged with intentional murder.
Stephanie Keller, 45, shot her husband Vestavia Hills officer Andrew Wade Kimbrel, 42, in May 2019 at their Gardendale, Alabama house. Both their teenage daughters were present at home at the time of the incident.
Officer Kimbrel was pronounced dead the next morning at a local hospital. He was shot in the head.
The Jury deliberated for two days before reaching its verdict and it found Keller guilty.
Keller could now face up to 15 years in prison and is scheduled for sentencing in January 2022. She maintained her innocence and called it an accident while the prosecution argued she intentionally shot her husband.
She is now expected to file a review as she maintains her innocence. Keller has also been remanded to jail until her sentencing.
