Two Afghan evacuees charged with sex assault on child, domestic abuse

Two Afghan evacuees have been charged in unrelated incidents for assault and performing sexual acts with a minor at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin.

Bahrullah Noori, 20, has been charged with attempting to engage in a forceful sexual activity with a minor under 16.

Noori is charged with three counts of trying to engage in a sexual act with a minor, with one count of use of force.

The indictment details that the victim was under the age of 16 when the incident occurred.

In the second case, Mohammad Haroon Imaad, 32, is charged with assault, allegedly trying to “strangling and suffocating” his spouse.

The assault on the spouse took place on September 07, according to the indictment.

Both of the defendants in the unrelated cases were previously charged in complaints filed by the US District Court, and made initial appearances in Madison on September 16.

The defendants are being detained at the Dane County Jail, awaiting the arraignment scheduled later today under the jurisdiction of the US Magistrate Judge Stephen L. Crocker. 

“Noori faces a minimum penalty of 30 years and a maximum of life in prison on the charges of use of force, alongside a maximum penalty of 15 years on other two charges,” if convicted.

Imaad if convicted, faces a “maximum penalty of 10 years.”
