Migrant Crisis: Deported Haitians pelt stones; “thousands released in US”

Haiti’s main airport was filled with scenes of despair as angry protestors took matter into their own hands by throwing stones and shoes at planes that brought them back.

Last week, the US started flying migrants away from Del Rio, Texas which saw an influx of over 11,000 migrants in the most recent wave.

The migrants gathered under a bridge connecting the city of Del Rio to Mexico’s Ciudad Acuña.

They were soon seen bathing, using soap, etc., in the Rio Grande river which provides drinking water to over 6 million people.

Experts were quick to catch the reason behind the recent surge and deduced the devastating 7.2-magnitude earthquake in Haiti being behind it.

Most of the Haitians however, never came directly from Haiti. They had been living in South America for years, as told by some officials.

The Biden Administration had initially paused the deportation flights for Haitians, but soon overturned the decision after fears that the move would for influence more to come grew.

As flights started landing Haiti’s Toussaint Louverture International Airport, chaos followed with people rushing to collect their luggage and throwing stones and shoes at the planes.

The mobs went on to injure US immigration officers and pilots on board one of a flights.

One person reportedly tried to reenter the plane, but was fended off by the cabin crew, as reported by Reuters.

According to Homeland and Security, over 3500 migrants have been deported or moved to other processing centers.

As local border officials are struggling to provide food and sanitary products to the migrants, deportation flights are set to be reinforced from Thursday onwards.

Although, some reports are indicating that the Biden Administration is freeing thousands of Haitian migrants on US soil.

Two anonymous immigration officials told the Associated Press that the Biden Administration released a very large scale of Haitian migrants inside the US.

The migrants are said to be given a notice to appear within two months for their next deportation hearing.

Catch and release gives migrants a chance to be released inside the US and then disappear until they are caught again by ICE.

The anatomy of the migrants behind the crisis

If the Associated Press’ quoted sources are correct then the Biden Administration has been doing the exact opposite of what it’s promising publicly.

With thousands of Haitians and/or other migrants released inside the US, the resources and funds of local communities will now be used to provide humanitarian assistance to the migrants.

The communities will consequentially have their food and sanitation systems overwhelmed further.
