AUKUS: US, UK and Australia form military alliance

by News Desk September 15, 2021

Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States have formed a special military alliance to counter China’s fascism in the Pacific.

The trio will share advanced technologies among themselves including nuclear-powered submarines.

The supply-chains and industrial base will also be shared apart from the advanced “defense-related science” and tech.

China in order to gain complete control over the South China Sea and the Pacific initiated an aggressive stance which has led the World to react and protect the neighboring countries China has always bullied.

China goes distasteful as ever as US shifts focus

President Biden, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison released a joint statement to announce the formation of AUKUS.

“As leaders of Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, guided by our enduring ideals and shared commitment to the international rules-based order, we resolve to deepen diplomatic, security, and defense cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region, including by working with partners, to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century. As part of this effort, we are announcing the creation of an enhanced trilateral security partnership called ‘AUKUS’ – Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States,” the joint statement read.

The statement further read that the pact members would share vital cyber capabilities, undersea activities and AI technology.

“Through AUKUS, our governments will strengthen the ability of each to support our security and defense interests, building on our longstanding and ongoing bilateral ties. We will promote deeper information and technology sharing. We will foster deeper integration of security and defense-related science, technology, industrial bases, and supply chains. And in particular, we will significantly deepen cooperation on a range of security and defense capabilities,” it added.

All three partners have called the agreement significant and indicated how much the safety of the Indo-Pacific matters to the US and UK.

The alliance has however, cancelled Australia’s deal with France to build a submarine fleet for the Australian Navy.

Since the alliance will focus on developing nuclear-powered submarines for the country, the deal with France is over.

“As the first initiative under AUKUS, recognizing our common tradition as maritime democracies, we commit to a shared ambition to support Australia in acquiring nuclear-powered submarines for the Royal Australian Navy. Today, we embark on a trilateral effort of 18 months to seek an optimal pathway to deliver this capability. We will leverage expertise from the United States and the United Kingdom, building on the two countries’ submarine programs to bring an Australian capability into service at the earliest achievable date,” the statement further read.

Officials from the UK have said the alliance comes in response to no country and is established to certify the rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific.

However, experts are convinced it is in response to China’s growing and unnecessary military presence in the region and its outskirts.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said the three countries are natural partners and the alliance would bring the “natural partners” closer than ever.

The joint statement marked the developed of the nuclear-powered submarines a “joint endeavor between the three countries,” and that Australia is “committed to adhering to the highest standards for safeguards, transparency, verification, and accountancy measures to ensure the non-proliferation, safety, and security of nuclear material and technology.”

Australia is also committed to fulfill all of its obligations as a non-nuclear weapons state.

“Australia remains committed to fulfilling all of its obligations as a non-nuclear weapons state, including with the International Atomic Energy Agency,” it added further.

The partners are set to deepen their defense ties which were built over the decades, and this alliance will enhance their mutual capabilities.

“Recognizing our deep defense ties, built over decades, today we also embark on further trilateral collaboration under AUKUS to enhance our joint capabilities and interoperability. These initial efforts will focus on cyber capabilities, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and additional undersea capabilities,” it went on.

The joint statement also says that the alliance is formed to help “sustain peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific.”

It also highlighted the significance of the relationship between the three allies that spans over seven decades.

“The endeavor we launch today will help sustain peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. For more than 70 years, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, have worked together, along with other important allies and partners, to protect our shared values and promote security and prosperity. Today, with the formation of AUKUS, we recommit ourselves to this vision,” the statement concluded.
