UK: Vaccine passports to be issued in England
COVID-19 vaccine passports are all set to be issued in England, as confirmed by vaccines Minister Nadhim Zahawi.
Indoor venues like nightclubs will require all adults to show the certificates if they wish to enter.
According to Zahawi, soccer stadiums have been asking fans to show proof of vaccination since the resumption of the sport and it has allowed the stadiums to reopen with full capacity.
The UK is ready to slowly enforce measures that restrict the spread of the virus, but nightclub owners are worried they might affect business.
Nightclub associations in England have warned of the economy getting crippled by this measure and nightclubs may face discrimination.
The opposition too has opposed the announcement saying it is not feasible and would be expensive.
Scotland has already announced to make vaccine passports mandatory for people wishing to enter nightclubs, and now England is following suit.
Protests sparked in France after the government enforced the same measure and it will be interesting to see how people in England react.
