Hurricane Ida: Electricity to be restored in New Orleans by next week
Electricity supply will be restored in New Orleans by the middle of the next week according to the preliminary restoration times released by Entergy Louisiana.
Over a million people were deprived of electricity following hurricane Ida’s landfall.
Entergy Louisiana provides power to New Orleans and most of the Deep South of the United States. The power outage is to be fixed by next Wednesday. Albeit, the “estimates are subject to change.”
“We understand the extreme difficulty of living without power, and hope that these estimated times of restoration can help customers better plan and prepare for the coming days, and for those in the hardest-hit areas, weeks ahead,” told Rod West, president of Entergy group’s, utility operations, in a statement released by the company.
“Please know that thousands of employees and contractors are currently in the field working day and night to restore power. We will continue working until every community is restored,” he added while asking the affected communities for patience.
The statement revealed that about 26,000 professionals from 40 states were working to restore the power throughout the affected areas which have “more than 14,000 damaged or destroyed poles, 2,223 damaged or destroyed transformers, and 155 destroyed transmission structures.”
