How do we know the Afghans coming are not a threat?

by News Desk August 31, 2021

After this Administration managed to miscalculate the entire Afghan crisis, how can we trust it with screening and performing background checks on the influx of Afghans?

We have criminals slip in through the southern border and now we have safely evacuated tens of thousands of Afghans who have worked with and for us.

But how do we certify that through all of them, only the deserving and ones with no malintent arrived? Couldn’t a criminal or terrorist sneak through with them?

The entire evacuation was out of control in the majority of the first half, then US troops were deployed and regained control of the airport and began conducting orderly evacuations.

The lives of the Afghans who have helped us are indeed in danger but how has this Administration made sure we root out the bad actors?

Even if they have implemented all the steps to minimize the arrival of a bad element, can we trust them for it? Can we trust their calculations and words?

Have they learned from their mistake? They emptied Bagram, created an atmosphere of uncertainty, didn’t expect the Taliban to recapture Afghanistan so quickly which generated fear and put American lives in danger with over 150 still stuck in Afghanistan.

Not to mention the fact that they preferred taking in foreigners before Americans.

Apart from the security, how do we settle the Afghans in our society? If the unaccompanied teens or young adults have never been educated or don’t know anything about America and its broad range of people, then how would they adapt and be responsible enough to not break any laws and violate other people?

Who would pay for the food and basic necessities provided to these people when we have homelessness crisis in over a dozen cities? What jobs will they get? Whose jobs will they get?

We got them out after the State Department failed with its calculations but how do we get them settled? Some are even asking why should we?

Will they be sent back if the Taliban miraculously keep their promises and abide by the laws?

These are valid concerns and we already know how they are going to be dubbed as, but please look at the bigger picture.

In the end, if a criminal rises out of these people, they are going to hurt the very people they came with first before hurting Americans.

Tarnishing the name of the Afghan refugees who would then be labelled with whatever type of crime(s) that originate out of their groups.

We hope this doesn’t happen, but there is always a possibility and have we made sure to eliminate it before releasing the refugees from the bases and resettling them in various communities?

There are charities asking people to help in resettling the refugees. That is wonderful work and the sort of mindset that built this country, but have we mitigated the risks?
