The attacker behind the tragic shooting at Perry high school that has left one child dead, and five injured – including the school’s principal – has been identified by Police.

The suspect has been identified as 17-year-old Dylan Butler, senior at the high school. Butler had carried a shotgun and handgun to the school earlier today before starting the attack.

Police also discovered a “rudimentary” IED (Improvised Explosive Device) at the school that was later defused.

Various reports online are alleging the suspect to be a “genderfluid LGBTQ activist with an agenda.” (The Conservative has not been able to independently verify these allegations, nor can confirm their authenticity. It is humbly advised to let authentic information flow in before making judgement).

At 7:37AM, Police had received an alert of an active shooter at the school where students were returning from the winter break. It took authorities around 35 minutes to get the situation under control.

Butler was ultimately declared dead from a self-inflicted gunshot, and Police are assessing that he acted alone. Multiple law enforcement agencies are involved in the investigation.

According to Police, Butler made several “social media posts around the time of shooting,” indicating that he acted alone.

Classes have already been canceled by the Perry Community School District, and prayer vigils have also been scheduled.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has ordered all the flags to be lowered to half-staff in support of the community.

“This senseless tragedy has shaken our entire state to its core. I want this community to know that every Iowan stands with you,” said Gov. Reynolds.

This tragic shooting in the town of just 8,000 has left the entire country in shock and pain. The incident is still being investigated and Police are still on the lookout for a motive.
