Ukraine braces for Russian attack on major cities

by News Desk August 22, 2022

Ukraine is bracing for Russian attacks on major cities after Moscow accused it of assassinating Darya Dugina.

The attacks are expected by Ukraine during its Independence Day celebrations. Ukrainian officials are warning that Russia could resort to torture against the captured Ukrainian troops.

The Ukrainian President warned that Moscow could put the captured Ukrainian troops on trial at the same time the celebrations are taking place in Ukraine. He also warned that such an action would take the war to the point where negotiations will no longer be possible.

Ukraine is set to celebrate its 31st Independence Day on Wednesday. Bans on mass public gatherings are set to stay till Thursday because of fears of Russian missile strikes. The city of Kharkiv also has a curfew imposed until Thursday morning.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine will mark its sixth month on the latter’s Independence Day.

Russia’s accusations force Ukraine to brace for attacks

Russia has blamed the Ukrainian intel for the attack on the daughter of a close Putin aide, Alexander Dugin. According to Moscow, the attacker was a Ukrainian citizen who entered the country in July and fled to Estonia after the bomb attack on Dugina.

Ukraine has denied the allegations and is bracing for a string of deadly attacks on its cities. Voices inside Russia say the attack was conducted by groups within Russia that oppose Vladimir Putin and his ultra-nationalist “brain” Alexander Dugin.

Controversial Russian figure, Alexander Dugin, has called the attack on his daughter Dugina a “terrorist act” by Ukraine’s “Nazi regime.”

Dugin called his daughter as a “patriot, Orthodox woman” as well as a “philosopher.” He is also calling on Russians to achieve victory in the war as his daughter “sacrificed her life.”

Pro-war Russian commentators are claiming Dugina to have died for the idea of a “Russian World.” They are also “praying” that the Russian forces release the “Holy fury” on Ukraine.

All the Russians who support the invasion of Ukraine have long seen it as a war between the Orthodox and Catholic Christian and ridding the World of Catholics and restoring the Orthodox order which in their eyes is the true and only form of Christianity.
