Miami-Dade Police officer critical after shootout with suspect

A Miami-Dade Police officer is critical after a shootout that left the suspect dead on Monday night.

The officer is in a “very, very” critical condition according to officials. Miami-Dade Police Department officers were responding to a situation at Northwest 17th Avenue and 67th Street around 8:15PM.

The suspect tried to flee from the scene and struck another car which had an adult and a child, both remained unharmed. The accident was followed by a shootout where the suspect was shot dead and an officer was also shot and taken to a nearby hospital.

The Miami-Dade Police Department has not revealed the identities of the suspect or the brave Police officer who is in a critical condition fighting for his life. The Department is asking for prayers for the officer and his family.
