Georgia man charged with raping and impregnating a minor

A Georgia man has been charged with raping, impregnating a 12-year-old girl after an investigation that lasted several months concluded.

The investigation was started in November when the victim, who is a minor was discovered to be pregnant. Adairsville Police were called after the girl went to a doctor for an undiscovered illness that soon turned out to be pregnancy.

Police arrested the 32-year-old suspect, Courtney Spears, after a DNA test declared him the father of the child. He was arrested on Wednesday and now faces six counts, two each for rape, incest and child molestation.

Spears is being kept at the Bartow County jail awaiting trial.
