After the Oscars incident involving Will Smith and Chris Rock, many were quick to jump on the bandwagon to garner popularity. Rep. Ayanna Pressley, a member of The Squad too was among them, but for all the wrong reasons.

In a now-deleted tweet, the Representative from Massachusetts hailed Smith’s actions and physical assault of Rock to “defend [his wife].”

Pressley had also added that “women with baldies are for real men only only. Boys need not apply.”

#Alopecia nation stand up! Thank you #Will Smith Shout out to all the husbands who defend their wives living with alopecia in the face of daily ignorance & insults. #Oscars Women with baldies are for real men only only. Boys need not apply.

Ayanna Pressley tweeted.

Users online are criticizing Pressley for being “obsessed with Hollywood” to “get popular.” Others are criticizing her for “supporting battery” and being too quick to jump on the bandwagon just to cash in on something that went viral instead of doing her job.

Many are even worrying about the spike in violence Pressley’s deleted tweet could have among her supporters.
