Miami Beach bans alcohol sales after 6PM

In order to ‘mitigate dangerous and illegal conduct,’ Miami Beach has banned alcohol sales after 6PM starting Thursday.

The ban will be in place from March 24 to March 26 (Thursday to Saturday). It has been enforced because of an uptick in violence at Spring Break parties.

“The sale or distribution of any alcoholic beverage(s) for off-premises consumption, with or without payment or consideration therefor, shall be prohibited in the curfew area after 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2022, after 6 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022; and after 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022.” addressed the city officials in a written statement.

From Thursday, March 24, to Monday, March 28, each night from 11:59PM through 6AM, a curfew will take place in specific areas.

Curfew areas are bounded by:

  • 23 Street and Dade Boulevard to the north (including properties fronting the north side of 23 Street or Dade Boulevard),
  • Government Cut to the south
  • Biscayne Bay to the west
  • The Atlantic Ocean to the east

Due to violent incidents during spring break season, the Miami Beach has declared a state of emergency. City leaders have imposed the curfew to curb chaotic situations arising from the heavy partying.

Businesses in the curfew area will remain closed to avoid any violations. However, hotels shall operate past curfew, only to serve booze to hotel guests.
