US gas prices highest since 2008 as the sanctions on Russia over Ukraine invasion disrupt crude oil exports.

The average price of a gasoline gallon has reached $4.065 as of now according to AAA.

California being the most expensive at $5.343 followed by Hawaii ($4.699), Nevada ($4.590) and Oregon ($4.512).

Previously, the gas prices had reached their all time high in July 2008 with the average price of $4.114 per gallon.

“Increasing oil prices continue to play a leading role in pushing prices higher,” AAA said in a statement. According to AAA, the pump prices will continue to rise “as crude prices continue to climb.”

This also represents the second largest jump in average national gas prices in a week according to reports.

“As Russia’s war on Ukraine continues to evolve and we head into a season where gas prices typically increase, Americans should prepare to pay more for gas than they ever have before,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy.

“The national average price of gasoline stands just 4c/gal from record highs. We are likely to hit a new all time record in the next 24 hours,” De Haan posted in a tweet.

President Biden had assured his administration was trying to curb the impact of sanctions on Russia on US gas prices.

“Defending freedom will have costs,” Biden had said while imposing sanctions on Russia.

This is another blow ahead of the midterms for the ‘Crises Administration.’ Biden’s immediate actions upon taking office included creating roadblocks for drilling leases and backing the cancelation of the Keystone XL Pipeline.

The Conservative reported this back in August 2021 when Biden defended his decisions influenced by progressives and claimed “green energy” would bring more jobs for those unemployed after oil production somehow goes extinct to ‘save the Planet.’

Texas Governor Greg Abbott had slammed the White House in August 2021 for making America energy dependent.

If the White House acknowledges the extreme rise in gas prices is due to the sanctions on Russia, then it is also admitting that Biden has made America dependent on Russian gas.
