Leftist Swedish PM called hypocrite for keeping illegal immigrant as cleaner
Sweden’s newly ‘selected’ Leftist Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson has been criticized for keeping an illegal immigrant as a house cleaner.
Police arrived at her home in Nacka after a burglar alarm went off, and found two workers, out of which one was arrested after it was discovered that she was issued a deportation order in the past.
The incident occurred on December 21 but was only reported by Swedish media on Saturday.
The arrested worker is said to be in her 20s and is from Nicaragua. She has now been handed over to Sweden’s migrant agency.
Andersson made history as Sweden’s first woman Prime Minister when she took office in November – after being selected through technical means, with the majority of votes not in her support, but also not against her.
She soon resigned after losing coalition support for her budget, but was then reappointed through the same technical procedure.
Andersson, leader of Sweden’s self-proclaimed “Feminist Government,” has said that she had ended all contracts with the cleaning company and claims to have been unaware about the worker being in Sweden illegally.
She said the cleaning company assured her that all employees hired by them are working legally in the country.
Since Andersson has been a vocal critic of underpaid illegal workers – she is now facing the wrath online and is being called a hypocrite by critics.
She had vowed to bring down the “illegal economy” and fight organized crime which includes illegal workers paid less, given less rights and kept in unlivable conditions.
Andersson suggests herself to be a victim of fraud, but her critics think otherwise even though she might have evidence supporting her claim.
The head of the cleaning company has told local Swedish media that the Nicaraguan was not sent to Andersson’s house but was waiting outside in a car.
Some are even suggesting Andersson to resign and refer to the resignation of the United Kingdom’s Immigration Minister in 2014 over a similar incident.
