North Carolina Trooper hit by Trooper brother during stop dies at Hospital
A North Carolina Trooper who was struck by his Trooper brother’s vehicle died at a local Hospital.
Trooper John S. Horton was stopping a car at High Shoals Church Rd., and Goodes Grove Church Rd., when his brother, Trooper James N. Horton, responded to assist him. James lost control of his vehicle and hit his brother’s stationary patrol vehicle.
Trooper John and the driver who was stopped were standing by the vehicle when they were struck. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while Trooper John died at a Spartanburg Hospital.
The incident is now being investigated and Trooper James has been released from a local Hospital after being treated for minor injuries.
Our hearts are broken with the loss of our friend and our brother, Trooper John Horton. For all involved in this tragic event the coming days will undoubtedly be difficult, but we are committed to stand alongside with them with our thoughts, prayers and unwavering support.
