Off-duty Cleveland Police officer shot dead in suspected carjacking
An off-duty Cleveland Police officer was shot dead on Friday night in a suspected carjacking incident.
The officer’s stolen vehicle was located soon and the suspect was taken into custody. The off-duty officer was shot twice in Kamm’s corners and died at a local Hospital.
Mayor-elect Justin Bibb said “our hearts are heavy tonight as we mourn the loss of one of our Cleveland Police officers.”

Mayor-elect Justin Bibb said in a tweet.
Cleveland Police Union President Jeff Follmer asked for prayers after hearing this “devastating news.”
This was the first time since September 2020 when a Cleveland Police officer lost his life in a shooting.
Mayor-elect Bibb urged residents to stay “vigilant this evening.” He also thanked all law enforcement officers who supported “us this evening.”
A 28-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with this case. They have not been charged yet.
The woman was wanted since November for a robbery, and the man has a long criminal history.
