Los Angeles Police finding family after baby tests positive for cocaine
Los Angeles Police are finding a family of five after a newborn baby tested positive for cocaine.
Luis Avalos and Arely Anaya, parents of the 3-week-old baby, a 5-year-old and a 4-year-old might have fled to Nevada, according to witnesses.
The Los Angeles County Department of Children Services called the LAPD on Monday to help investigate this case of child neglect. Both, the mother and the newborn had tested positive for cocaine on December 02, consequentially alerting the DCFS.
The parents were made aware of the DCFS’s intention to take the child from their custody. The agency then tried to contact the family again during the first few weeks of December but to no avail.
Since they got no response from the parents and were unable to find them at their house, the DCFS contacted Police and are seeking a court order to take the children away from the family.
Witnesses told Police that the parents had fled the scene because they were worried their kids might be taken away from them. Intel suggests they are currently somewhere in Reno, Nevada.
