Injuries feared as fire at ExxonMobil refinery escalates
A major accident at ExxonMobil’s Baytown, Texas refinery might have injured at least four people up till now.
The Company has confirmed that a fire erupted at the facility which refines about 500 oil barrels per day, and also has a chemical plant.
Around 1 a.m. on 12/23/2021, a fire occurred at our facility. At this time, emergency vehicles and smoke may be noticeable to the community. We are coordinating with local officials, and working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
ExxonMobil said in a statement.
ExxonMobil’s Emergency Response team is responding to the incident and its “first priority is people in the community and in our facilities.” So far, no shelter has been set up for the locals and there seems to be “no adverse impact at this time.”
