About 100 people feared dead in Kentucky tornadoes
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has said that about 100 people could be dead because of the overnight tornadoes that hit the state.
A state of emergency has been announced in Kentucky as the Governor said that these are the worst tornadoes to ever hit the state.
The deaths could be anywhere from 70 to a 100. Several tornadoes struck the US this week, and over a 100 workers were stuck inside a candle factory in Mayfield, Kentucky when the tornado hit them.
Gov. Beshear said he fears Mayfield might lose at least 12 out of those stuck inside the candle factory.
Amazon’s Illinois warehouse was also damaged by a tornado, several workers remained stuck inside it as well when the roof collapsed.
The tornadoes have collectively damaged a lot of public, private property in Western Kentucky, parts of Illinois, and Arkansas.
The NWS has issued tornado warnings for areas in Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, and Illinois.
At least one nursing home patient was reported dead in Arkansas after the roof collapsed. Rescuers managed to clear the building after about 90 minutes, and the 20 people trapped inside the rubble were freed.
Damage assessments are being conducted, and authorities urge people to help their neighbors and evacuate from the areas near the pathways of the anticipated tornadoes.
They also urge people to be aware of their surroundings as falling trees and broken high tension wires are a major threat to life post the tornadoes.
