Time’s Up fires staff in a bid to become transparent after Cuomo scandal

by News Desk November 21, 2021

In a bid to be more transparent, women’s anti-harassment group Time’s Up has decided to fire its staff in a complete “reset.”

Time’s Up, founded by Hollywood women after the #MeToo movement was embroiled in controversy after it was revealed that it’s CEO, and board co-chairwoman had ties to estranged former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Roberta Kaplan, the Time’s Up board’s co-chairman had resigned in August after the New York Attorney General’s damning report showed her involvement in reviewing an alleged op-ed sent by one of Cuomo’s closest aides Melissa DeRosa against Cuomo’s first accuser Lindsey Boylan.

The alleged op-ed was to smear Boylan’s character and included her personal files.

Kaplan’s resignation was followed by Time’s Up CEO Tina Tchen’s.

Tchen’s resignation came came a day after a report showed that she had discouraged her colleagues at Time’s Up for making any public comments in support of Cuomo’s first accuser, Lindsey Boylan.

After months of criticism for having ties to the disgraced former Governor, Time’s Up has now decided to opt towards a complete reset.

The organization is now going to be “rebuilt” from the ground, as announced by the Time’s Up BOD.

Their decision comes after consultation with an independent consultant. The organization is trying to regain its lost credibility after the Cuomo Sex Harassment Scandal.

Time’s Up acting President and CEO, Monifa Bandele is also going to step down with the rest of its current staff by January 01, 2022.

It now faces an uphill task to regain its lost popularity and to prove that it doesn’t work for any politician or political Party, but for women and their complete rights.

Time’s Up, an organization there to protect women from sexual harassment ended up violating that sacred trust bestowed upon it.

It’s top officials influenced the organization to ignore raising its voice in support of Cuomo’s victims. Many are still criticizing it and believe regaining the lost trust will be almost impossible, and would take years of honest and hard work that makes a difference.
