Police obtain warrant for Atlanta airport gunfire suspect

Police have obtained a warrant for the arrest of the Atlanta airport gunfire suspect.

Suspect Kenny Wells, 42, a convicted felon, fled from the airport after his gun went off during a security check. The gunshot sparked fear and panic among other passengers who thought there was an active shooter in the area.

Wells’ gun went off while he was trying to reach for it inside his bag during a security search. The gunshot occurred at about 1:30PM and Police cleared the situation a few hours later.

The incident is believed to be an accident but sent shockwaves throughout the airport. Police are now looking for Wells, as he faces charges multiple charges.

From carrying a concealed weapon at a commercial airport, to discharging a firearm, reckless conduct, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Flights were temporarily delayed while authorities made sense of the incident. Some people suffered minor injuries, ranging from shortness of breath and fall damage. No one was shot.

Videos circulated online, showing people lying on the floor as fear spread.

Passengers will now once again board their flights in order to celebrate Thanksgiving with their loved ones.
