Mexican authorities have captured the wife of Mexico’s most wanted man, “El Mencho,” leader of ruthless Cartel CJNG.

Rosalinda Gonzalez is suspected of running the Cartel’s finances. She was arrested in Zapopan, according to Mexico’s Defense Ministry. Rosalinda was out on bail (1.5m Pesos – $78,000)while awaiting trial on money laundering charges since 2018.

Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) started its operations in the Mexican state of Jalisco. Today, it has a nationwide presence and has carried out deadly attacks on law enforcement agencies.

CJNG is one of the most powerful Cartels in Mexico. It has conducted deadly attacks on Mexican security forces, and was even behind the assassination attempt against Mexico City’s Police chief in 2020.

Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho,” has been on the run for years. He has a $10m bounty on his head set by the USDA.

“El Mencho” and Rosalinda have three children together, one of them has already been extradited to the US on drug trafficking charges.

The Cartel is believed to have buffed up its attacks in retaliation for the extradition. It has also used drones to attack Police officers recently.
