by News Desk October 18, 2021

An Illinois mother has shot a man dead after he and along with his girlfriend declined to kiss her, according to the police.

Suspect Claudia Resendiz-Florez, 28, moved in with James Jones, 29, and his girlfriend at their apartment complex in Rolling Meadows when she finally snapped. After drinking together on Thursday, Resendiz-Florez asked Jones to kiss her which he denied and kissed his girlfriend instead.

She then asked Jones’ girlfriend for a kiss who denied as well, according to the prosecutors. Resendiz-Florez finally snapped when she was denied the second time by Jones.

She grabbed Jones’ gun tucked beneath the cushions and finally pointed it towards him. Jones tried to fightback after he noticed her take off the safety but couldn’t succeed as Resendiz-Florez pulled the trigger.

Jones’ girlfriend called 911. A handgun was found at the scene of the crime. Resendiz-Florez has confessed to the killing and she has been charged with murder.

“Once on scene, the officers were able to locate a male victim, James P. Jones, 29 years of age, who had been shot in the chest, and was later pronounced dead.

Claudia Resendiz-Florez was identified as the shooter and taken into custody. A witness has been cooperating with this investigation and the scene was processed for evidence. At this time, it appears that this is an isolated incident with no threat to the general public.
Claudia Resendiz-Flores has been charged with 1st degree murder and was transported to Central Bond Court (26th and California) for a bond hearing,” said the Rolling Meadows Police Department.

Justice John F. Lyke Jr., ordered Resendiz-Flores to be held without bail. Her attorney, assistant public defender Courtney Smallwood argues that she was not residing with the couple at the time but with her family.

Resendiz-Flores is to appear before the court on Tuesday.
