YouTube will censor all “anti-vaccine” information

by News Desk September 29, 2021

YouTube released a statement today announcing (according to many) the beginning of the end for free speech on its platform.

The platform will now remove all videos that spread alleged misinformation related to vaccines.

The crackdown won’t be limited to COVID-19 but vaccines in general, and action will now be taken against well-known YouTubers highlighting various issues and asking various questions, etc.

YouTube had already censored different types of videos related to the origins of COVID from Wuhan, China.

Apart from that, users were prohibited from uploading videos questioning or debating various COVID-19 treatments and preventions.

Even Senator Rand Paul was suspended back in August over his comments on the effectiveness of masks.

In its statement, YouTube said since last year it has removed over “130,000 videos for violating [their] COVID-19 vaccine policies.”

After consulting healthcare experts, YouTube has now built over 10 new policies to combat “COVID-19 and medical misinformation.”

The WHO needs to be held accountable

The platform will now remove all content “that falsely alleges that approved vaccines are dangerous and cause chronic health effects, claims that vaccines do not reduce transmission or contraction of disease, or contains misinformation on the substances contained in vaccines.”

“This would include content that falsely says that approved vaccines cause autism, cancer or infertility, or that substances in vaccines can track those who receive them,” the statement added.

In a bid to try and balance it out, the statement said the platform would allow “content about vaccine policies, new vaccine trials, and historical vaccine successes or failures on YouTube.”

“Personal testimonials relating to vaccines will also be allowed, so long as the video doesn’t violate other Community Guidelines, or the channel doesn’t show a pattern of promoting vaccine hesitancy,” it further declared.

In the end, the statement said that today’s policy update “is an important step to address vaccine and health misinformation on [their] platform, and [they’ll] continue to invest across the board in the policies and products that bring high quality information to [their] viewers and the entire YouTube community.”

Countless people online have marked this as the final nail in free speech’s and open discussion’s coffin on the platform.

How COVID showed that science doesn’t have all the answers

Big companies that exist because of their viewers now control what the viewer thinks, can say, or do.

Although, we are against the spread of disinformation but we are also against censorship of any kind.

We strongly believe that a debate is the only thing that can expose disinformation spread on purpose to harm the masses.

Misinformation however, is a completely different thing.

It’s spread by those unaware of the facts, and what they say actually means.

The only way to fix that is to… Debate! In the end, you can either convince the other person, or the other person can convince you, or both go their separate ways peacefully.

To take a gun out and tell the masses to keep quiet, is considered as plain tyranny.

Would social media bigwigs censor the misinformation or disinformation spread by Dr. Fauci when he told people not to wear masks?

Everyone can be wrong, in fact, science learns from past mistakes. Newer studies either support and further previous ones or reject them.

That doesn’t mean we shun research or studies altogether.

At the time, Fauci and experts worried masks would go out of stock for healthcare professionals, so told the public they were not effective.

Now, wasn’t that disinformation? With today’s set standards people wearing masks would stop the virus from spreading and killing millions.

Maybe millions would have been saved had people worn masks back when Fauci told not to?

Who gets to decide what’s right or wrong when newer studies can always disprove previous ones? Science learns from mistakes and also as it progresses, that’s the beauty of it and how it always comes up with solutions.
