“The Fire Engine That Disappeared” styled blast rocks apartment block
Over 20 people were injured, with at least four in serious condition, after an explosion shattered through an apartment block in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Fire quickly spread through the building, forcing residents to escape through windows and balconies.
The police suspect it to be deliberate and are conducting an investigation.
Residents of other buildings saw the entire area covered in smoke as firefighters were rushing on scene at about 5AM local time.
Sweden, which was known to be one of the World’s most peaceful countries saw over 200 detonation attempts in 2020, with over 100 being successful.
The Swedish firefighters heroically pulled people from their burning apartment building and took them to the local hospital(s).
The cause for the explosion is yet to be determined and police suspect it to be deliberate.
The style of the explosion has reminded some of the famous Swedish police procedural, “The Fire Engine That Disappeared” by Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö.
