Update: Rescue Operation has shifted to Recovery Operation.

The Navy’s three-day search has concluded with no positive news for the families of the sailors who went missing in Tuesday’s helicopter crash.

The five Navy sailors who fell into the water are presumed dead, the Navy said. They went missing this week after their helicopter crashed about 60 nautical miles off the San Diego coast.

While five other USS Abraham Lincoln sailors were injured in the crash.

One of the helicopter’s crew was rescued from the water following the crash and is said to be in a stable condition.

The names of those lost are expected to be released soon.

USS Abraham Lincoln was also part of the search effort and the cause of the accident is also being investigated.

The helicopter was conducting routine operations from the carrier when it crashed and the 72-hour search by the Navy and Coast Guard could not find those missing.

The Navy was unable to find the wreckage but are aware of the position the helicopter fell.
