America’s tallest man dies
Igor Vovkovinskiy, the tallest man in the US, died in Minnesota at the age of 38.
The Ukrainian-American law student died on August 24 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, he was suffering from heart disease. Vovkovinskiy’s mother, Svetlana, who is an ICU nurse at the Mayo Clinic posted online about his tragic death on Friday.
“His last dinner was: A piece of Kyiv cake and Fanta,” the mother wrote in a heartbreaking post.
Vovkovinskiy had come to Mayo Clinic in 1989 for the treatment of a tumor that induced abnormal levels of the growth hormone. The excess of growth hormones affected his overall body size and he grew up to be the tallest man in the United States, standing at 7’8.33″ tall.
