Afghanistan: Fatal firefight at Kabul airport

A firefight ensued between Western forces and unknown gunmen at the Kabul airport amid the evacuation pandemonium.

According to a German military tweet, a firefight broke out between the Afghan security forces and unknown attackers at the northern gate of the Kabul airport. One Afghan security personnel was killed and three other were injured.

A subsequent tweet by the German military confirmed the involvement of US and German forces later on in the encounter.
